Warranty Disclosure & Seller Responsibility

Important information about warranties on TradeAtlas

Seller Liability

If you offer a warranty on any listing, you are personally and legally responsible for honoring that warranty. TradeAtlas is not responsible for warranty claims or disputes.

How Warranties Work on TradeAtlas

Warranties are optional for all listings. When you choose to offer a warranty, you are making a legally binding commitment to the buyer.

Warranty claims are handled directly between buyer and seller. TradeAtlas provides the platform for communication but does not mediate, process, or enforce warranty claims.

Warranty Options

Parts Only Warranty

You will replace the part if it fails within the warranty period. Labor costs are not covered.

Parts & Labor Warranty

You cover both replacement parts and labor costs for repairs during the warranty period.

Return Policy

Buyer can return the item if it's dead on arrival (DOA) or defective. You must specify return terms.

As-Is / No Warranty

No warranty or guarantees. Buyer accepts all risk. This is the most common option for used parts.

Your Responsibilities as a Seller

  • Honor all warranty terms you specify in your listing
  • Respond to warranty claims within a reasonable timeframe
  • Keep records of warranty terms and buyer agreements
  • Clearly disclose warranty exclusions and limitations
  • Be honest about part condition and history

TradeAtlas's Role

TradeAtlas provides:

  • • A platform to display warranty terms
  • • Messaging system for buyer-seller communication
  • • Verified user accounts to reduce fraud

TradeAtlas does NOT:

  • • Process or handle warranty claims
  • • Guarantee that sellers will honor warranties
  • • Provide legal enforcement of warranty terms
  • • Mediate disputes between buyers and sellers

Best Practices

For Most Used Parts:

Select "As-Is / No Warranty" to avoid liability. Most used truck parts are sold without warranty due to age and unknown history.

For Tested, Working Parts:

Consider a short warranty (e.g., 30 days, 1,000 miles) to build buyer confidence and stand behind your products.

For New or Rebuilt Parts:

Offering warranty coverage can justify higher prices and attract serious buyers.
